The Coasterettes...

The "Coasterettes" is Coasters' senior ladies entertainment group which aims to provide quality theatre in various community settings, whether for functions or for those such as the residents of retirement homes who have difficulty in attending other productions at regular venues,

Coasterettes was established in 1994 by Helen McLeod, who is now retired as Director. Helen was accorded Life membership of Coasters Musical Theatre Inc in March 2006.

Coasterettes is now run by Jean Chamberlain QSM and Loraine Boyd, who also take on the roles of creators, producers, performers, and props wranglers. The role of Musical Director was ably filled in the foundation years by Joyce Pond and in recent years by Caroline Lonsdale. The wonderful costumes are organised by Margaret Simpson.

As the Coasterettes have gathered a growing following of enthusiastic and appreciative audiences, each season extends over a three month period involving two or three performances per week covering our region from Titahi Bay to Levin. The success of each Coasterettes show lies in the variety of themes, costumes and items presented each year which range from serious to light-hearted songs and skits, and also to the ongoing commitment and the obvious enjoyment of the performers.
